An active response to China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative and “Chinese Culture Goes Gobal” strategy, Cambodia Angkor Wat·China Sichuan Cultural Industry Park “Dream of Angkor” Sustainable Cultural Tourism Project is located in the vicinity of conservation area of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Ten kilometers far from the main scenic area of Angkor Wat, the project covers an area of 1000 hectares including 9 lakes and 10 villages. Besides infrastructures like electrical grids, telecommunications, water supply, sewers and roads, the project planning involves 11 facilities including a theatre, a professional training institute, ethnic handicraft workshops, sightseeing agriculture parks, homestay hotels and cultural commercial districts. The master planning of the project is to be implemented in phases with a total estimated investment of 700 million US dollars, of which 200 million US dollars is for the first phase.
After preliminary site investigation, research and evaluation, we have drawn up a detailed planning and its concrete implementation plan. In Sichuan·Cambodia Trade and Economic Cooperation Promotion Conference, which was held in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia in April, 2017, this project was introduced as a key project, for it will significantly extend and enliven the culture of Angkor Wat, enhance the cultural consumption, and increase regional tourism carrying capacity; meanwhile, local residents will find employment, thus their income increased, and receive a good vocational education, thereby achieving prominent comprehensive benefits.
