Lhasa Joined Development Academic Forum Focuses on ‘Princess Wencheng’ Tibetan Culture Legendary Opus

On the 12th of January, 2016, ‘Lhasa Joined Development Academic Forum’ was held at Lhasa. Lhasa’s Municipal Standing Committee and the Minister of Propaganda Department, Mr. Zhan Dui, and other experts who attended the forum visited the ‘Princess Wencheng’ Theater.

Attending the forum as well, were academic leaders from Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Minzu University of China, Sichuan University, Chinese Academy of Social Science and other high education institutes invited by Lhasa’s Municipal Government. The guests showed enormous interests in the well-known ‘Princess Wencheng’ show. Not only did they seek detailed information regarding the stage design and performance schedule, but also dove into heated discussions in terms of the development of cultural tourism industry in Tibet.

USUNHOME Group’s Chairman Qiu Wei and President He Ping warmly greeted the guests and introduced USUNHOME Group’s project progress. After visiting the ‘Princess Wencheng’ Theatre, the guests went to the theatre observatory square to enjoy the grand view of the Potala Palace and Lhasa city. Accompanied by Mr. Qiu Wei, the guests also visited Cijuelin Tibetan Cultural Street. The leadership expressed that even if the performance season had ended, they were still impressed by the theatre itself and highly acknowledged the ‘Princess Wencheng’ Tibetan Culture Legendary Opus and Cijuelin Tibetan Cultural Street. Lhasa’s Municipal Standing Committee and the Minister of Propaganda Department, Mr. Zhan Dui, indicated that since ‘Princess Wencheng’ show’s first performance season, it has accumulated recognition from the society and in the future, the show should shoulder the responsibilities of spreading Tibetan culture.

2015 is the third performance season of ‘Princess Wencheng’ show. ‘Princess Wencheng’ delivered 179 performances and welcomed more than 350,000 people in the audience in 2015. The revenue from the box office reached 140 billion Yuan. With tourism derivatives sales and other facilities from the commercial street, the overall revenue topped 150 million Yuan. Besides the economical achievement, the ‘Princess Wencheng’ show also contributed in driving Lhasa’s cultural tourism industry, providing job opportunities, reviving the culture industry and strengthening China’s soft power. Tourists commented highly on the show and rated it as one of the must-sees when traveling in Tibet.



Currently, the 2016 ‘Princess Wencheng’ performance season is under preparation. It will improve on its casting, stage design, equipment and other aspects for new breakthroughs and bring the
