Cultural and creative industries should be injected new life to turn on the charm of Chengdunese culture. From November 9 to 12 2018, the 5th Chengdu Creativity & Design Week was held at Chengdu Century City International Exhibition Center. Its theme this year was “Creative Chengdu·Wonderful Life”. This year's Chengdu Creativity & Design Week attracted more than 1,000 creative design agencies from 30 countries and regions. This large-scale cultural and creative event aims to vitalize Chengdu's New Economy with cultural creativity, to make creative design an engine that powers the integration of cultural, tourism, sport industries and commerce, and to fuse cultural creativity into urban life aesthetics. RC cars ran fiercely in sandbox rallies; old newspapers got turned into unconventionally original things like magic; VEX robotics competition showed the perfect fusion of technology and DIY...Such engaging interactive on-site experiences were how J-Makers DIY platform exposed visitors to the fun of creative works. The platform aims to bring together a wide variety of exceptionally innovative and creative DIY works from all across China and the world. Adopting a "culture + technology" approach, it builds a high-end DIY industry chain that covers online & offline DIY education, DIY experience shops and related services. J-Makers exhibits included Warcraft armor, Iron Man, engraved metalwork, miniature landscaping. They were complemented by very popular workshops that gave visitors opportunities to make leather goods, fondant cakes, steampunk machines and painted models.
