Che Jun, Secretary of CPC Committee of Zhejiang Province and Director of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Congress, visited Tibet for research with a provincial delegation of Zhejiang. In the evening of July 31, they visited Lhasa Princess Wencheng Theatre and watched the large-scale epic drama of Tibetan culture “Princess Wencheng” in the company of Qi Zhala, Deputy Secretary of Tibet CPC committee and President of Tibet Autonomous Region, and Songji Zhaxi, Secretary of Municipal CPC committee of Naqu City. Dawa Pingcuo, Chairman of Lhasa Potala Tourism and Culture Group, and He Ping, co-founder of Usunhome Group and President of Usunhome Cultural Tourism Co., Ltd made an introduction.

Che Jun spoke highly of the distinct cultural theme of “Princess Wencheng” and its praise for the spiritual strength of ethnic unity. He also  approved of its sensational presentation. He was particularly touched by the near-800 cast who continued performing in spite of the rain. According to him, the creation of a fine work of art like “Princess Wencheng” epic drama on Tibet Plateau is of vital significance to the protection, inheritance and development of Tibetan culture. Furthermore, the play improved, to some degree, the tourism pattern in Lhasa and expanded the range of night tourism products.

Having been improving for six years, “Princess Wencheng” large-scale Tibetan culture epic drama has become an integral part of Lhasa’s most popular tourist route: visiting Potala Palace, strolling along Barkhor Street and Watching Princess Wencheng epic drama”. While upgrading the whole cultural and tourism industries of Tibet, this cultural project has also helped local people fight against poverty for a better-off life through targeted poverty alleviation, thereby achieving both social and economic benefits at the same time.
