On 10th May 2018, the list of the 10th “China's Top 30 Cultural Enterprises” together with the nominees was released on the 14th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair (ICIF). The Central Leading Group for Cultural Structural Reform and Development Work organized the assessment and shortlisted the candidates. A group of agencies such as Guangming Daily and Economic Daily jointly selected the winners and nominees. This most authoritative evaluation in China’s cultural industries is dubbed “the Oscars in China’s Cultural Arena”. Usunhome Cultural Tourism Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Sichuan-born Usunhome Group Co., Ltd., was nominated for its “remarkably positive social impacts, bright prospects and unique methods of business form innovation.” So far, it has been the only private cultural enterprise nominated in West China and also the very first cultural enterprise nominee from Chengdu over the decade.

It is reported that this state evaluation was based on the enterprises’ social and financial targets, core business revenue, investments in cultural projects and annually earned national awards. It reflects the development of China’s cultural industries and the scale and competence of its cultural enterprises. The nominees constitute “a group of top players in China’s cultural industries”.

About 80% nominees are state-owned enterprises; less than 20% are private ones. The nominees specialize in such fields as publication, film, TV, broadcasting and art. 12% of them are cultural tourism enterprises. The nominees mainly concentrate in Beijing, Shanghai and other developed cities in North China and East China. Among the four nominees from West China, only Usunhome Cultural Tourism Co., Ltd. is a private cultural enterprise.
