Co-produced by Usunhome Cultural Tourism and Lhasa Potala Tourism & Culture Group, the musical “Princess Jincheng” (hereinafter referred to as the Musical) premiered successfully on August 16th at Princess Jincheng Theater in Tibet Cultural, Creative and Tourism Park in Cijuelin, Lhasa. A ceremony in celebration of the premiere was attended by Mr. Qiu Wei, Chairman of Usunhome Group and Usunhome Cultural Tourism, and Producer of “Princess Jincheng”, and Mr. He Ping, co-founder and Vice-chairman of Usunhome Group and President of Usunhome Cultural Tourism.
On that day, Princess Jincheng Theater with over 1,000 seats got a full house. Visitors from all corners of the country witnessed the opening of this fine work of art on the Tibetan Plateau. It plot, full of twists and turns, represents the life of legendary Princess Jincheng masterfully. Its stunning effect on stage also plays a vital part in telling this thousand-year-old epic story, and earned it rapturous applause of the audience.
In addition to its eventful plot, this sister production of the large-scale Tibetan culture epic drama “Princess Wencheng” has gone to great lengths to show traditional Tibetan art and culture and managed to show the impressively authentic culture, folk customs and lifestyle of the Tibetan people. The musical’s well-written lyrics and well-choreographed dances bring a breath of fresh air. Actors sing in various styles to the music, a mix of traditional and modern touches. The musical thus packs so much punch. The audience cannot help but travel back in time and take a close look at Princess Jincheng’s impeccable character.
The audience gave a thunderous ovation as the curtain fell. When interviewed, they were lavish in their praise of the show. “The musical bears a striking resemblance to those West End and Broadway extravaganzas.” “It simply moved me to tears.”“The beautiful music is still haunting me.” “I just watched ‘Princess Wencheng’. It is imposing while ‘Princess Jincheng’ is exquisite, but both should definitely not be missed.”

Next, we will continue to improve it artistically, including the acting, to deliver a cultural feast to audience at home and abroad,” said Mr. Qiu Wei in an interview.
“Princess Jincheng is a work by China’s top theater practitioners who guarantee the audience China’s best art experience.” According to an interview with its director Mr. Shao Zehui, the production took over a year and much effort. It encompasses various elements like ethnic solidarity and Tibetan folk customs. It is ideal for tourists to acquaint themselves with Tibetan culture. Never slack in its pursuit of art, it will heed the audiences’ advice and keep upgrading itself accordingly.
Princess Jincheng is scheduled to be performed daily at 16:30 at Princess Jincheng Theater in Tibet Cultural, Creative and Tourism Park. The schedule may change in line with the tourism dynamics of Lhasa.
